Ladies Developmentals 2018

Woo beginners!

On Saturday the 17th of February we entered an impressive 2 teams in Ladies Devs, hosted by UCC Ultimate in the Mardyke. This tournament is meant
for beginners and developmental players, meaning they have played for less than 2 years.

UCC X

Final placing: RUNNERS-UP

MVP: Eimear Burke & Saoirse O’Sullivan
MSP: Clara Donovan

UCC made yet another Ladies Devs final when UCC X went unbeaten to reach the final showdown against UL. The final was very close, with both teams exchanging point for point for most of the game. UCC started the universe point on D and unfortunately UL were able to take the point and ultimately, the trophy. A 2nd place finish, still a fantastic result!

A few words from the Captain, Emer Twohig:

“On the 17th of February, UCC were delighted to send 2 teams to Devs which was hosted by us in the Mardyke. UCC Y finished 5th and UCC X finished 2nd. Throughout the day, the girls showed great determination, positivity and a willingness to learn. The tournament was a great learning experience for the girls, it was some of the girls first tournament, and they really enjoyed learning more about the rules, the spirit and winning!!! After the weekend, it was most definitely clear that the future of UCC Ultimate is a bright one!”

We were the only college to send 2 teams to the tournament, an achievement in itself. UCC Y also performed very well, coming away with a win at the end of the day.

A few words from the Captain, Shauna Buckley:

“UCC Y improved loads over the course of the tournament. Their confidence in playing the game really improved as the games progressed winning and losing matches on universal points, showing their level of intensity never dropped! The girls bonded really well as a team and thoroughly enjoyed taking part.”
